Nendaz offered a richly varied activity programme for children and has been awarded the 'Families Welcome' seal of quality. There are child minding facilities for toddlers, playgrounds and walks suitable for push chairs, as well as sports and craft acitivities available. Key highlights of the area for summer and winter:
- Suonen trails: 100 km of gentle walks alongside irrigation water channels in the Nendaz mountains
- Grande Dixence Reservoir: The highest reservoir in the world at 285 m
- Sion: The capital of the Valais with imposing fortress and historic townscape
- Saillon-les-Bains: Neolithic and Roman town with thermal baths
- Grottensee near St-Leonard: From March to November, boat trips across undergound lake between Sion and Sierre
- International Alpine Horn Festival: The largest festival of its kind in Switzerland which takes place in July
- Gran Raid: Longest and hardest mountain bike ride in the world: 131 km course from Verbier to Grimentz via Nendaz which takes place in August
- Guitar Festival: Each July and August, classical guitar concerts take place with Russian, South American and baroque music.
Situated in the heart of the 4 Valleys at an altitude of 1500 metres, the resort of Nendaz shares over 400 km of pistes with the neighbouring ski resort of Verbier.
Weather
Nendaz enjoys a moderate alpine climate featuring the four seasons. Summers in Nendaz can be spent on the sundeck soaking up the sun and having barbecues. The maintains and lakes of the 4 valley area provide endless possibilities for outdoor activities for all ages and abilities. Summers are generally warm and pleasant with cool nights. Winters are sunny, with reliable and frequent snowfalls making it perfect for skiing in winter and outdoor adventure activities in summer.
